How to play Ludo

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Ludo. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Make your first input carefully and watch the result. Look at what changes after your first action.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

Build a steady rhythm

Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.

Step by step

  1. Roll six to leave the yard.
  2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
  3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
  4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Return to the rules if the result is unexpected.

A useful example

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Watch out for this

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
